That resolve carried me into the U.S. Army, where I served four years as a Combat Medic. I was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division and deployed to Afghanistan for a 13-month tour during the 2008 surge (Operation Enduring Freedom).
Keeping soldiers alive under fire sharpened my attention to detail and gave me an unshakable calm under pressure. Working under fire taught me to absorb chaos, filter for the critical details, and execute—with no margin for error.
